How To Make Footprint Butterflies

Supplies You'll Need:

Paint

Canvas

Marker

Take a paint brush and paint the bottom of your child's foot. You can make it one solid color or you can print blotches of different colors. Press it down on the canvas. Repeat with the other foot. But make sure that the feet are together by the outside of the foot. Use the marker to draw a body, head and antennae.

Bottle Cap Caterpillar Craft

What You'll Need:

6 Bottle Caps

Green Paper

Scissors

Glue

Crayons

Pipe Cleaners

Googly Eyes

First, cut a leaf shape out of the green piece of paper. Have your child color the bottle caps the colors they chose. Pour a bit of glue onto a scrap paper and have your child dip the cap into the glue then stick the caps onto the leaf in a line. Glue eyes and a pipe cleaner smile onto the first cap. Glue antennae above the face bottle cap and use a crayon to draw legs underneath the rest of the caps.

Jellyfish in a Bottle Craft Tutorial

This craft is perfect for any kid no matter of the age.
I'm 23 and I think it is a really cool idea.

You'll need:

Plastic shopping bag

Water bottle

Blue food coloring

Thread

scissors

First, cut off the handles and the bottom of the bag. Then cut the sides of the bag so you have 2 pieces. We will only be needing 1 piece. 

Take the half and make a little balloon in the middle and tie it with the thread. Don't tie it too tight as we will need to put some water in it later on.

Next cut the longer part into a bunch of thin tentacles. You can cut some of it off if it looks like it will be too bulky for your water bottle.

Next turn your jellyfish over and pour a little bit of water into the head. Make sure you leave some air in there or it won't float.

Put your jellyfish in your water bottle.

Add a few drops of blue food dye. Not too much otherwise you won't be able to see through the water.

And you are done. Let the kids flip it over and see their jellyfish float. I know when Aubree gets older I will definitely be making this with her :)

Upcycled Tshirt Racer Back Tank Tutorial

I've made a few of these already and I must say I am in love with them. They are comfortable and it's not to much fabric for when you're working out. It's best if you use a shirt thats a size to big for you otherwise it might get a little tight.

Get an old tshirt and cut the sleeves off at the seams.

Next, cut off the collar.

Then cut about 1.5 inches farther down into the collar. When you get halfway fold it over so you can use it as a template so the collar of the tank top won't be crooked.

Start about an inch away from the edge of the collar and cut all the way to the bottom of the arm holes.

Now cut about a 2 inch strip from one of the sleeves and cut it so it lays flat.

Bunch up the back of the tshirt and wrap the strip around it twice and tie a knot.

You can twist the strip so that the know is in the inside.

Now you have an awesome new tank top :)

Upcycled Tshirt Headband Tutorial

Now that you have that left over fabric from making the work out racer tank, why don't you make a matching hairband to keep sweaty hair out of your face.

Cut the seam of the end of the sleeve. Then cut about 9 strips at about half an inch to an inch wide.

Pull on the strips to make them curl up.

Take one of the strips and wrap it around the other strips and tuck the ends into the knot.

This is what it will look like when you are done.

Upcycled Tshirt Dog Rope Toy Tutorial

This is a cute idea if you have extra scraps of fabric from making scarves out of old tshirts or if you have random pieces of fabric lying around.

First I cut 6 strips about 2 feet long from the body of the shirt and braided them together. Repeat this 2 more times for a total of 3 braids.

Then simply braid all three braids together and tie knots at both ends. Make sure to cut of the extra fabric left at both ends after you knot it.

My dog loved this! It's a cheap toy that's good for puppies that like to chew on everything.

Another Upcycled Tshirt Summer Scarf Tutorial

Who doesn't love wearing a scarf with a cute shirt or some tank tops in the summer to add some color and style?

Get an old t-shirt and cut the bottom hem off. I used an old cotton knit shirt for this not just a regular cotton shirt.

Then make a cut all the way across right underneath the armpits

Then cut strips up the shirt about 5 inches make them thin about 1/2 an inch wide

Then pull on the ends to make them curl up

And you my wonderful friend are done :)

Upcycled T-shirt Scarf Tutorial

This is a quick and easy project you can do with any old shirt you might have

Get an old t shirt - if you want it to wrap around your neck you will need at least an extra large.

First cut the bottom hem off

Then cut 8-10 strips from the body of the shirt. It doesnt matter about the width you could make them all different sizes to vary the strips in the scarf.

Then pull on the ends so they curl up, then line up the hems

Next take one of the strips and wrap it around the hems and tuck the ends in

Now all you have to do is put it around your neck & you are done :)

Welcome To My Blog

Hey ya'll my name is Lisa Springstead. I am a 23 year old single mother of a beautiful baby girl named Aubree. She is 8 weeks old today and a miracle. I guess I'll use this post to tell you about me and my life.

I was born in New Jersey but raised in North Carolina. I live in a smallish town called Mooresville. We are known for all our NASCAR race shops and Lake Norman. I consider myself a country girl. I love going to the rodeo, the dragstrip, the NASCAR races, and bonfires. I mostly stay around the house these days though because of Aubree.

My daughters name is Aubree Miriam. She was born April 6. She was born with a congenital diaphragmatic hernia. CDH is a hole that is in the diaphragm and the intestines and stomach develop up in the chest cavity preventing the lungs from developing properly. Luckily Aubrees was a late development and her lungs where fully developed when the hernia occured. She had surgery when she was 4 days old and is now doing amazing. I always say she just wanted a bit of extra attention when she came out lol. Im not sure if I'll ever give her siblings because the chances of having another baby with CDH are 1 in 50. Her father chose not to be in the picture. Which I am ok with now. At the beginning it was difficult to process the thought of raising our child alone but I am doing very well at it I would like to think.

This is a blog about my successes and not so successful attempts at life, motherood, crafts, recipes, and a diet. Maybe a comical here and there just for fun lol. I hope you have fun sharing the ups and downs with me. God bless ya'll :)
